Cllr Manisha Kaushik begins role as Transport Committee Deputy Chair

First meeting in new role

The new Deputy Chair of the West Yorkshire Combined Authority’s Transport Committee took up her role today. 

Members of the Transport Committee formally welcomed Cllr Manisha Kaushik to her new role at today’s meeting following her appointment at the Combined Authority’s annual meeting. 

Cllr Kaushik has been a member of the Transport Committee since June 2017. She has represented Crosland Moor and Netherton ward on Kirklees Council since 2016. 

Cllr Kaushik said: “Having worked on the Transport Committee over the past two years I have seen first-hand how vital the work of this Committee undertakes and the difference our decisions can make to the quality of life enjoyed by people in the region. 

“As a ward councillor I have seen the role transport plays in connecting communities to jobs, education and other opportunities and I am looking forward to working with my fellow Transport Committee members to do more of this vital work.”

Cllr Kim Groves, Chair of West Yorkshire Combined Authority Transport Committee, said:  “I am delighted to welcome Cllr Kaushik as Deputy Chair to this Committee as we continue provide a strong voice for the travelling public. 

“I look forward to working closely with Cllr Kaushik as we continue to press the case for investment and improvements in our transport network which delivers benefits for all our communities.”

Cllr Kaushik will be stepping down as the Chair of the Kirklees District Consultation Sub-Committee for the West Yorkshire Combined Authority.
