Energy and Clean Growth in the Northern Powerhouse

The Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership (the LEP) is set to take part in a major conference that will showcase the future opportunities for energy, clean growth and de-carbonisation in the North of England.

20 August 2019

The Energy and Clean Growth in the Northern Powerhouse conference will be the first time an event of this scale has been co-ordinated by the NP11 - the 11 Northern Powerhouse LEPS in the UK.

Organisers expect more than 1,000 people will attend the two-day event at Hull’s Bonus Arena on November 5-6 where there will be a range of keynote speeches, panel discussions and seminars.

Roger Marsh OBE, Chair of the LEP and the NP11, said: “We have a unique opportunity across the North to unlock the economic opportunities that de-carbonising our economy will bring and embrace the new technologies that will drive our future growth.

“This is a priority area for the NP11 and we’re looking forward to working in partnership across the North to achieve our shared goals.”

The event is being organised by the Humber LEP on behalf of the NP11.

Lord Haskins, Chair of the Humber LEP, said: “We are incredibly proud to be hosting this first-of-its-kind event, which is a fantastic opportunity to show the wider world what we have on offer across the North of England. It is a great chance to debate challenges, reflect on successes and consider how to maximise our future opportunities.

“We are particularly pleased to be working alongside other Northern LEPs, illustrating that by co-operating rather than competing with each other, we can become a world leading region in energy and clean growth.”
