A statutory consultation has been launched to review the revised West Yorkshire Mass Transit Vision 2040.

Following initial engagement with the public in 2021, the vision has been revised and sets out the process for developing a new system of transport to make the region greener, more inclusive, and better connected.

The vision also shows how mass transit will help make West Yorkshire’s transport network more accessible and more inclusive, while also helping us achieve the region’s aim of net zero carbon emissions by 2038.

During the initial public engagement in 2021, support for the vision was strong, with around 80% of respondents saying they supported the vision, either fully or in part.

Now, a statutory consultation is being held ahead of the final vision being formally adopted. Responses can be submitted here  www.yourvoice.westyorks-ca.gov.uk/masstransitvision

The statutory consultation will run until 16 January 2023.

Tracy Brabin, Mayor of West Yorkshire, said:

“This is another step forward for our ambitious mass transit project, which will truly transform our region by linking communities with quick, reliable and integrated transport services.

“At a time of instability and chaos in Westminster, it is vital that the new Government renews their commitment to the West Yorkshire Mass Transit system so that we can continue to progress this important work with confidence.”

Members of the public are being encouraged to sign up to YourVoice to keep up to date with the latest developments on Mass Transit, including future consultations as the project develops.  As part of the £830 million City Region Sustainable Transport Settlement, funding has been allocated to develop and start to deliver the first phase of the Mass Transit network.
