Mayors Statement in regard to the death of Sir David Amess

'I am truly saddened at the death of Sir David Amess. My thoughts go out to his loved ones and colleagues.

The outpouring of love that we have seen for David shows that he was a well respected and honourable man.

I know that here in West Yorkshire, this will bring back awful memories of five years ago and our communities will be particularly touched.

This is truly horrifying and shocking.

Rest in peace, Sir David.'
