Clean growth

We aim to grow our region’s economy while also cutting greenhouse gas emissions, including carbon dioxide emissions.

Supporting our economy to grow in a clean and sustainable way is key to everything we do.

We’re committed to becoming the UK’s first zero carbon city region and we’re working alongside our partners and climate change experts to determine how and when we’ll achieve our ambition.

This will benefit everyone by reducing pollution, improving air quality and reducing our energy bills.

We have a number of projects that support this aim, including helping businesses to reduce their energy, waste and emissions, installing charging points for ultra-low emission vehicles and helping households to be warmer, save money and become more efficient.

You can find out more about our strategies below.

Leeds City Region Climate Coalition

The Leeds City Region Climate Coalition has been launched by the West Yorkshire Combined Authority and the LEP to bring together politicians, businesses, campaigners and communities as we fight to fulfill our ambition to become the UK’s first net zero carbon city region by 2038.
