Join us as we celebrate the 1.2 million women and girls of West Yorkshire. To mark this year’s International Women’s Day, the Mayor of West Yorkshire is hosting an event to celebrate the achievements of girls and women across the region.
Back by popular demand we are also hosting an all-day, free event which invites you to explore gender equality through thought-provoking discussions, inspiring talks and incredible performances.
You might remember at last year’s event we were joined by some incredible speakers including; Joeli Brearley, Heba Bevan and Noushin Aslam Raja as we discussed how to #BreaktheBias.
This year’s event will be themed around #EmbraceEquity and will cover a range of topics from learning how to build confidence to a masterclass on menopause.
We will be bringing together a wide-range of speakers who will be sharing their experiences, knowledge and advice to generate discussion, empower and to bring about positive change.

The event focused on the accomplishments of women and girls, amplifying the voices of women from across the region while exploring the theme of International Women's Day 2022 – "Break the Bias." To mark last year’s International Women’s Day, the Mayor of West Yorkshire hosted a week of events to celebrate the achievements of girls and women across the region.
Monday 7th March 2022 will see local legend and Olympian, Nicola Adams OBE lead a boxing workshop with aspiring girls in the same area where Nicola trained as a young athlete. Supported by students from Leeds Beckett University, girls will learn about boxing and can also talk to Nicola about her road to success.
