Combined Authority seeking local views on East Ardsley, West Ardsley & Thorpe bus services

From Sunday 21 May, bus services 47 and 481 are due to start using the recently re-opened Fall Lane Bridge.

Buses have been diverted since a 3-tonne weight restriction was applied to Fall Lane Bridge, in 2010. The Bridge was closed for 16 weeks while a �2.3m refurbishment was carried out.

A return to their original route, using the bridge, for bus services 47 and 481 will improve journey times significantly for passengers.

West Yorkshire Combined Authority wants to use this change as an opportunity to find out what people in the East Ardsley, West Ardsley and Thorpe area think of their bus services.�

Local residents are invited to take part in an online survey (opens in new tab).

They are also being invited to attend one of two drop-in sessions at which representatives from both the Combined Authority and bus operator Arriva will be on hand to hear what people to say. These sessions will take place on:

• Monday 13 March, Thorpe Community Centre, 5:30 - 7:30pm
• Tuesday 14 March, East Ardsley Community Centre, 10:30am - 1:30pm

The online survey will be run until midnight on Monday 10 April 2017.

Deputy Chair of West Yorkshire Combined Authority�s Transport Committee Cllr Eric Firth said: �Bus services have a vital role to play in underpinning economic growth and the creation of new jobs with people in West Yorkshire using them to make over 3.5 million journeys each week.

�Buses are by far the most highly used form of public transport so it is important we take opportunities such as this to speak to local people and get their views on services. I hope people in the East Ardsley, West Ardsley and Thorpe areas will get involved.�

Local ward Councillor Jack Dunn said: �The re-opening of Fall Lane Bridge after this major refurbishment has made the forthcoming return of buses using the bridge represents win-win situation for local residents.

�However we want to make sure local buses are still providing the services people need and are carrying out this consultation to get their views. I would urge everyone who lives in the area to take part either online or by attending one of the drop-in events.�
