Combined Authority welcomes one year extension to rail franchise agreement.

Welcoming the news that a new agreement has been reached to extend the First TransPennine franchise by one year to April 2016, West Yorkshire Combined Authority (WYCA) Chair Cllr Peter Box said, This is good news for Leeds City Region rail passengers who will enjoy a better service on one of the busiest and crowded rail routes across our region.

Cllr James Lewis, WYCA Transport Chair added We are pleased that this franchise extension includes the commissioning of our previous work with TransPennine Express to enable the gates at Huddersfield Rail Station to read the popular MCard Smartcard.
