Combined Authority will fund over 80 Boxing Day bus services across West Yorkshire
26 November 2018
For the eleventh year, West Yorkshire Combined Authority has announced that it will be funding bus services on Boxing Day.
Between 9am and 6pm on 26 December, buses will serve over 80 routes, up to every 30 minutes, into main city and town centres, retail locations and hospitals.
MCards, ENCTS pass concessions and bus operator season tickets will be valid. Otherwise normal operator fares will apply. People planning on making a few journeys could benefit from buying a £5.50 MCard Day Saver.
Cllr Kim Groves, Chair of the West Yorkshire Combined Authority Transport Committee, said: "Since 2007 we have been funding Boxing Day bus services and we continue to see demand for these services with over 60,000 passenger journeys last year alone."
"We know how important travel around the region is during the festive period and by funding these services we provide people with transport to and from the main areas where shops will be open, as well as enabling people to meet family and friends, visit people in hospital and enjoy local events. Throughout the festive period we would encourage everyone to consider leaving their cars at home and take public transport."
Full details of services will be at www.wymetro.com, where people can also find out about money saving MCards.
