Consultation on planned Bradford cycleway

Consultation on planned Bradford cycleway

A consultation to get people's views on a new cycle route that links Bradford city centre to the Canal Road Greenway and Shipley has now closed.

The planned 2.3km cycle route would involve building a cycle track that is physically segregated from traffic and pedestrians to provide a safe link for cyclists between the growing residential areas along Canal Road and businesses in the city centre.

It would also mean the introduction of some changes to the movement of traffic and to on-street parking along the proposed route.

You can find out more about the planned scheme on the Cycle City Connect website (opens in new window).

A public consultation events took place on Wednesday 20 July, at Bolton Woods Community Centre, between 11am & 2pm, and 4pm & 7pm.

By taking part in the consultation, people were able to say if they support the scheme or not and suggest changes to the design. Comments received will be fed back into a report being presented to Bradford Council's Executive in September. The Executive will consider those views and will authorise the advertising of Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs).

These TROs will be subjected to a further consultation period in October before they are confirmed or amended in December. Residents and businesses on the cycle route are being sent a letter and leaflet explaining the proposed changes, with an accompanying map.
