Combined Authority seeking Managing Director

West Yorkshire Combined Authority (WYCA) is seeking a Managing Director to provide leadership and vision for the organisation, which brings together public and private sectors.

WYCA is made up of Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees, Leeds, Wakefield and York Councils and the Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership (LEP).

Its objectives include generating economic growth and job creation, maximising training and skills opportunities, building new, affordable housing and developing an improved transport network for West Yorkshire and the Leeds City Region.

Having achieved a �1bn plus Growth Deal, the biggest in the country, the focus is now on delivery to drive economic growth. We are also working with government on achieving a devolution deal that will provide us with the powers and resources to achieve our ambitions.

Working with the WYCA Board, the Managing Director will shape the organisation and ensure it provides an integrated approach to delivering the business, economic and transport ambitions for the region. Achieving results in partnership with business and constituent Districts will be intrinsic to the role.

You will be able to advocate, influence and create confidence at the highest level in a range of settings. You should also be able to demonstrate the capacity for long-term strategic planning and the tenacity and resilience to pursue initiatives through to delivery. You will play a key role in defining, embedding and promoting our culture and ethos, within and beyond WYCA. And you will work closely with the member districts� Chief Executives to achieve change across West Yorkshire and the City Region.

You should bring an appropriate level of strategic leadership experience to the role, a consistent track record in leading improvement within a political environment and a sound understanding of local government.
