Response to Westminster Hall debate on the performance of rail operators in Yorkshire
19 December 2018
Responding to today's Westminster Hall debate on the performance of rail operators in Yorkshire, Cllr Judith Blake, who leads on transport for the West Yorkshire Combined Authority and is Leader of Leeds City Council, said: "I am pleased that MPs had the opportunity to highlight the continuing poor performance of rail services in the North and the debate's focus on the impact on people's lives. Getting to work, getting home before your children go to bed, getting to college, getting anywhere in our region should be a matter of routine but for too many it remains an ongoing challenge."
"We will continue to press the rail companies and Network Rail to address poor performance and ensure that they deliver the service the North of England requires. The impact that historic underinvestment has had on capacity and reliability in our transport network is also apparent and we need the Government to match our ambitions in this area to deliver what our communities and economy need."
