West Yorkshire Mcard app downloads now over 11,000
Over 11,000 people have downloaded the free MCard app that enables them to buy and load travel tickets anytime, anywhere straight from any Android smartphone.
Available from the Google Play store, the MCard app has been used to buy over �850,000 of West Yorkshire bus and train travel. Approaching 50 are downloading it every day.
The free android app, which was launched in August 2017, enables customers to buy and load daily, weekly and monthly West Yorkshire bus and rail tickets onto their MCard.
Revolutionising
By enabling people to buy and upload tickets wherever and whenever suits them, the MCard app is revolutionising their travel.
�Great app, I hate queuing and missing buses and this has stopped me doing both!' was one of the app�s reviews. Other comments included in customer feedback on the app are �Easy and clear to use, saving time in every aspect� and �Really convenient as it allows you to top up your MCard on the move,�.
Leading
Since its launch in 2014, MCard has become the leading smart card travel in the North and one of the largest and most successful outside of London�s long-established Oyster card. People in West Yorkshire are now using the MCard travel smartcard to make around �30 million worth of bus and train journeys each year.
MCard was designed to make bus and train travel in West Yorkshire more attractive and affordable and for the 11,0000-plus people who have now downloaded it, the free MCard app is making it easier as well.
Plans to develop an iOS version of the app are being explored but in the meantime,�if they are buying a bus-only ticket, people with an iPhone can use a friend�s Android phone to load their MCard.
Ticket machines
Although growing numbers of people are using the app to top up their MCard, they can also use the use automatic ticket machines at Bradford Interchange, Castleford, Dewsbury, Halifax, Huddersfield, Keighley, Leeds, Pontefract and Wakefield bus stations to buy and load MCard bus travel. Alternatively for bus and rail travel they can use ticket machines located at 38 West Yorkshire rail stations or visit 700 West Yorkshire Payzone outlets.
