Roger Marsh OBE awarded for outstanding contribution to regional economy

Roger Marsh OBE, Chair of the Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership (the LEP), has won the's prestigious Ambassador award at the Yorkshire Business Masters Awards.

He was chosen by an independent judging panel in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the region’s economy and instrumental role in boosting the region’s profile both nationally and internationally.

The judges praised his efforts to attract big name investors – including Channel 4 – to our region and his dedication to championing inclusive growth which benefits everyone.

This year's judging panel deliberated long and hard about who was deserving of this prestigious award as so much has been achieved right across the region.

"This award recognises a business leader who has made a significant contribution to our regional economy. It was felt that Roger, working with numerous businesses and partners, has worked tirelessly to put the Leeds City Region, Yorkshire and the whole of the north on the map.

“He spearheaded the Channel 4 bid and has worked collaboratively with stakeholders to achieve great results for the north. Roger is a very deserving recipient and it was fantastic to be able to hand over this award to him.

The ninth annual awards ceremony took place at The Queen’s Hotel in Leeds on Thursday evening.

Roger Marsh OBE, Chair of the LEP, said: “For me, all of what we do, the huge success we can see here tonight and the variety of businesses is key to our economic vitality.

“I am privileged to make the case for the city region and for the North – the North is the solution, not the problem.”
