Halifax Beech Hill
Funding from the West Yorkshire Combined Authority has helped to assist with the demolition of three high-rise tower blocks and a former Council depot to unlock the delivery of new housing. The funding will principally focus on the site assembly of Phase 1 of the regeneration project; this will include the construction of 105 new affordable homes. The project will also include parking facilities, a cycle route, landscaping, public open space and infrastructure works.
Beech Hill lies on the Western edge of Halifax Town Centre. In conjunction with the LEP, the regeneration of the site is a joint venture partnership with Calderdale Metropolitan Borough Council and Together Housing Group (THG) who owned the three demolished tower blocks that used to occupy the site, which includes the Council's old Stannary Depot. This has now concluded the Phase 1a project. The cleared site is now being progressed for the delivery of new housing.
Homes England are match funders through the Estates Regeneration Fund.
The Phase 1b project to deliver this housing is currently being defined and will include the construction of up to 114 homes, the vast majority of which will be affordable or social rented homes.
