Thorpe Park Rail Station
This project aims to build a new rail station at Thorpe Park to enable improved accessibility to employment.
The proposed site is near to a development site at Thorpe Park which is a mixed use office, commercial (1.5m sq ft of business space, 221,000 sq ft of leisure, hotels, cafes and restaurants) and residential area (up to 300 homes). A revised masterplan for the site was granted approval by Leeds City Council in 2013 which includes proposals for a large area to accommodate housing. The proposed site is also near to the Southern end of the proposed East Leeds Orbital Road (ELOR) which has the potential to serve the wider catchment unlocked by ELOR.
The project seeks to improve access to jobs by rail by providing high frequency, high quality rail access to/from Leeds City Centre, from the strategic and primary road networks East of Leeds and to the new development site at Thorpe Park. This will enable better access to the employment market as well as creating valuable de-congestion benefits for those using the corresponding road networks.
