White Rose Rail Station

Full steam ahead for £26.5 million new White Rose Rail Station

Construction has started on the West Yorkshire Combined Authority’s £26.5 million new White Rose Rail Station.

The new rail station between between Morley and Cotttingley on the Transpennine route is being delivered in partnership by the Combined Authority, Leeds City Council, Munroe K and Network Rail.

Alongside a fully accessible station with cycle storage next to the White Rose Office Park, the scheme also includes better walking and cycling routes between Cottingley, Churwell and Millshaw, as well as the White Rose Shopping Centre and the bus interchange.

The Station is being delivered through the Leeds City Region Transforming Cities Fund, the Leeds Public Transport Investment Programme and the Department for Transport’s New Stations Fund, as well as contributions from Munroe K.

Construction work is expected to continue into 2023.

A consultation regarding the future of Cottingley Rail Station took place between July and October 2021.

A consultation with operational stakeholders took place between July and October 2022.

The consultation sought people’s views on the proposed closure of Cottingley Rail Station as it will not be possible to maintain the same level of service at both Cottingley and White Rose because they are too close together.
