What the Transforming Cities Fund (TCF) programme means for Leeds
Communities across Bradford, Calderdale, Craven, Harrogate, Kirklees, Leeds, Selby, Wakefield and York are set to benefit from TCF schemes, which include new or improved bus and rail stations, cycling and walking infrastructure, and new Park and Rides.
In Leeds, TCF schemes will:
- Include major works to the front of Leeds Rail Station, which will improve access for people travelling to station on foot and by bike, as well as a 700-space secure cycle parking facility. These improvements will help make Leeds ready for High Speed 2 and Northern Powerhouse Rail.
- Provide new cycling routes linking communities on the edge of the city centre with job and training opportunities, including at Leeds South Bank.
- Introduce bus priority to east Leeds, improving capacity and reliability for people travelling into the city centre.
- Include the new White Rose Rail Station, which will increase public transport capacity to accommodate future employment growth, support access to key employment and retail centres, and provide an interchange between bus and rail services. These improvements connect communities in Churwell, Millshaw and Cottingley with job and training opportunities.
