The A629 Halifax to Huddersfield Corridor Improvement is the largest individual scheme within the West Yorkshire-plus Transport Fund.
Our £120m investment into the A629 between Halifax, in Calderdale, and Huddersfield, in Kirklees, will help reduce congestion, improve journey times, boost public transport use and improve cycling and walking conditions.
The works are being funded through the West Yorkshire-plus Transport Fund. In addition to highway improvements, Halifax town centre will also benefit from a new bus and rail interchange, remodelled bus station, new bus routing and improved quality public areas.
There are six separate phases of work within the scheme.

This £120m package of schemes along the A629 corridor between Halifax and Huddersfield is designed to speed up public transport and car journeys along the route, unlock key development sites and deliver improved facilities for cycling and walking.
