Salterhebble to Shaw Hill

The A629 Halifax to Huddersfield Corridor Improvement is the largest individual scheme within the West Yorkshire-plus Transport Fund.

The £120m package of schemes along the A629 corridor between Halifax and Huddersfield is driving economic growth by addressing transport and accessibility issues.

On Huddersfield Road from Salterhebble to Shaw Hill, the investment to improve journeys and air quality included junction remodelling at Dudwell Lane, Dryclough Lane and Shaw Hill, highway widening at Salterhebble Hill, installing intelligent coordinated traffic signals, and building a vertical garden. Facilities have been improved for pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.

These improvements are delivering shorter and safer journeys, making sites on the route more attractive for business investment and creating more job opportunities.

It has allowed extra capacity ahead of the major upgrade to the Calder and Hebble junction during the next project, which will significantly reduce congestion in the area.
