A629 Salterhebble to Shaw Hill

The A629 Halifax to Huddersfield Corridor Improvement is the largest individual scheme within the West Yorkshire-plus Transport Fund.

The £120m package of schemes along the A629 corridor between Halifax and Huddersfield will drive economic growth by addressing transport and accessibility issues.

This project covers Huddersfield Road from Salterhebble to Shaw Hill. The investment to improve journeys and air quality includes junction remodelling at Dudwell Lane, Dryclough Lane and Shaw Hill, highway widening at Salterhebble Hill, installing intelligent coordinated traffic signals, and building a vertical garden. Facilities will also be improved for pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.

These improvements will deliver shorter and safer journeys, making sites on the route more attractive for business investment and creating more job opportunities.

It will allow extra capacity ahead of the major upgrade to the Calder and Hebble junction during the next project, which will significantly reduce congestion in the area.
