Halifax Station Gateway

Halifax Station is a key gateway not only for Calderdale but for Northern England. It is an entry point into the thriving town of Halifax. The aim is to deliver a landmark station with world class facilities.

Currently, Halifax Station is unable to keep up with passenger needs and economic growth. Improving the station and the way people access it will help meet future demand and will attract new rail users, encouraging this sustainable travel mode. It will also improve the travel experience, create a more attractive environment and boost the local economy by increasing investment, jobs and tourism.

Plans include building a new station at platform level, introducing a transport interchange for all modes of travel to and from the station, creating an attractive landscaped entrance, introducing new business space, and reopening the third platform.

The project will improve the facilities for passengers, improve accessibility for all through step free access and cycle facilities, and improve visibility and connectivity of the station with the wider town centre.
