Rail Park and Ride Phase 1 - Apperley Bridge

Subject to approvals and planning permission, an estimated 300 new parking spaces can be added to Apperley Bridge railway station car park thanks to our West Yorkshire-plus Transport Fund.

We’re investing £1.2m into the improvement works as part of our £31.5m Rail Park and Ride programme. As well as doubling the number of extra parking spaces, our investment will also fund new blue badge spaces, improved CCTV, improved drainage and low energy lighting.

Apperley Bridge is one of 14 stations within our Rail Park and Ride Programme designed to extend car parks and improve residents’ access to jobs, training and leisure opportunities in urban centres.

Apperley Bridge station was West Yorkshire’s first new railway station for 10 years when it was opened in December 2015. It opened with a 297-space car park and a pickup/drop off point and, fully accessible platforms with staircases and ramps. It also has secure cycle parking and waiting shelters.

The station itself was funded as part of a £15.9m Rail Growth Package which was given DfT approval in May 2014.
