Rail Park and Ride Phase 1 - Fitzwilliam
We have invested £700,000 from the West Yorkshire-plus Transport fund to add a further 108 new parking spaces to Fitzwilliam railway station car park.
Opened in April 2018, the extension took the total number of rail park and ride spaces in the county to 5,000.
In addition to more parking spaces, funding was also used to improve CCTV coverage and low energy LED lighting as well as provide new bat boxes and hedgehog houses, to support local wildlife. Six new blue badge parking spaces were also created.
Fitzwilliam railway station is one of 14 projects within our Rail Park and Ride Programme designed to extend car parks and improve residents’ access to jobs, training and leisure opportunities in urban centres.
More than 100 new, free park and ride spaces available for Fitzwilliam rail station users
