Rail Park and Ride Phase 1 - Moorthorpe

We’re investing £1.1million into Moorthorpe railway station to improve lighting and CCTV, as well as create an additional 60 standard and blue badge parking spaces.

The changes, funded through the West Yorkshire-plus Transport Fund, are part of a series of improvements to 15 railway stations within our Rail Park and Ride Programme. Changes are designed to extend car parks and improve residents’ access to jobs, training and leisure opportunities in urban centres.

Moorthorpe rail station provides passengers with services to Leeds, Wakefield and Sheffield. It sees almost 270,000 passengers per year with the current car park at full capacity most weekdays.
