Moorthorpe

At Moorthorpe rail station, over £1 million investment through the West Yorkshire-plus Transport Fund could mean the creation of an additional 43 parking spaces, subject to approvals.

Moorthorpe

Moorthorpe rail station provides passengers with services to Leeds, Wakefield and Sheffield with almost 270,000 trips per year; as a result the current car park is at full capacity most weekdays.

As well as 43 extra spaces, including 6 Blue Badge spaces, this scheme would include enhanced drainage and low energy LED lighting.

The scheme at Moorthorpe rail station is one of 14 projects within Phase 1 of our £30.5 million Rail Park and Ride Programme, which has been designed to increase station parking and provide people with increased access to train services. In turn, this will help reduce congestion, improve local air quality and enhance people’s access to jobs, training and apprenticeship opportunities, as well as leisure activities.
