West Yorkshire Combined Authority are seeking to appoint a Category Lead for the Built Environment to join our Commercial team.

West Yorkshire Combined Authority and the Leeds City Region Local Enterprise Partnership work with local councils and businesses to ensure that everyone in our region benefits from economic prosperity supported by a modern, accessible transport network, housing and digital connections.

It is an exciting time to be joining the Combined Authority and this role is pivotal in developing the commercial approach to major construction projects at a time when West Yorkshire is investing in bus and rail stations, affordable housing and preparing sites ready for inward investment.

The Role

Reporting into the Head of Commercial, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing and developing commercial expertise in the construction category for the organisation.
  • Working collaboratively at a regional level to embed best practice.
  • Leading on highly complex and strategic procurements.
  • Providing central, strategic contract management for some of our high-profile programmes including Transforming Cities and Urban Transit.

About you

You will have the following key skills, attributes, education and experience;

  • An excellent track record of successfully delivering procurements and providing contract management oversight for construction projects.
  • Be a commercial expert in your category and have excellent working knowledge of model contracts and public procurement law.
  • Hold a relevant professional qualification.
  • Experience in people management.
