The Combined Authority brings together five districts plus York, the business community via Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership and also takes in the former Passenger Transport Executive (branded Metro. Overall, the Combined Authority covers a population of around 2.5 million people and represents the largest economy outside London.


The role

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to provide a professional executive support service to the Chair of the Combined Authority.  The role holder will support the Chair on key policy and strategy issues, undertake research on their behalf and act as a first point of contact for internal and external stakeholders.

In addition to supporting the Chair directly, the postholder will also provide a professional and confidential secretariat service to a range of senior level groups, including the organisation’s Senior Leadership Team. In doing this the postholder will work closely with our wider executive support team to provide a seamless level of support to senior officers and politicians.

We are looking for someone who is efficient in managing a varied workload and who uses their initiative to proactively follow up on issues and actions. You will have excellent communication skills and be able to build strong partnerships at all levels, both internally and with other organisations. You will also be skilled in translating complex information into succinct reports, briefing notes and presentations.

The role holder will be primarily based in Leeds City Centre, although there may be requirements to work at partner organisations within the Leeds City Region.


The person

You will be educated to degree level or have equivalent practical experience of working in a similar role. You will also have experience of providing confidential Board level support and have a strong understanding of policy and strategy development. You will be a confident communicator, have excellent analytical skills and be comfortable operating proactively within a multidisciplinary team.
