We currently have a vacancy for an Evaluation Officer to join our Research and Intelligence team.

It is an exciting time to be joining the Mayoral Combined Authority. We have a wide variety of exciting projects that we are working on which will help shape the West Yorkshire region.

The £830 million City Regional Sustainable Transport Settlement (CRSTS) is aimed at providing an integrated and inclusive transport network and was made possible thanks to the West Yorkshire Mayoral devolution deal. This work will build on the significant investment already being made in making it easier for people to walk, cycle and use public transport around West Yorkshire.  Find out more information about the programme.

The Role

Reporting into the Lead Evaluation Officer, the key responsibilities are but not limited to:

  • Working closely with the Lead Evaluation Officer, and deputising as required, to ensure the effective delivery of programme-level evaluations in the context of transport policy and delivery (including the City Region Sustainable Transport Settlement).
  • Coordinating the collection and management of transport monitoring and evaluation data from internal and external partners, to meet the requirements of the CRSTS national evaluation commissioned by the Department for Transport, as well as informing and facilitating local programme-level evaluation activity.
  • Design of evaluation briefs, oversight of procurement, and project management of externally commissioned consultancy work.
  • Logic Model and Theory of Change development for transport programmes, applying specialist insight to support colleagues.

About you

You will have the following key skills, attributes, education and experience:

  • Educated to degree level in Transport Studies, Geography, Economics, Research Methods or similar area of study.
  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary environment and across functional teams to drive key objectives and priorities.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships, communicate key messages and convey complex information for a variety of internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience of applying a range of evaluation methods in practise, such as surveys, focus groups, experimental design, difference in difference, or randomized controlled trials.
  • Ability to coordinate and lead on the reporting and dissemination of evaluation approaches and findings, including presenting to key stakeholders and governance boards.
