We currently have a vacancy for a Information Governance Officer to join our Legal and Governance team.
It is an exciting time to be joining the Mayoral Combined Authority. We have a wide variety of exciting projects that we are working on which will help shape the West Yorkshire region.
In 2021 the £1.8bn devolution deal was secured for West Yorkshire. This meant the first Mayor of West Yorkshire was subsequently elected, with Tracy Brabin taking up post in May 2021. The devolution deal and election of the Mayor has enabled us to start to drive up living standards for local communities while tackling the climate emergency and helping to deliver our commitment to become a net zero carbon city region by 2038.

Reporting into the Information Governance Manager & Data Protection Officer, and with a particular focus on Policing & Crime, your key responsibilities will include:
- Advise on compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), by responding to officer queries, supporting corporate projects, etc.
- Process requests for information under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), Environmental Information Regulations (EIR), and the UK GDPR.
- Risk assesses the impact of new data collection exercises by reviewing Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs).
- Review the accuracy and consistency of Data Processing Agreements (DPAs) and Data Sharing Agreements (DSAs) before they are signed.
- Draft privacy notices and input on drafts written by officers.
- Design and deliver training on the UK GDPR.
- Investigate information security incidents.
- Administer off-site records storage.
- Consult with officers to design and update corporate retention schedules and offer general records management support.
- Publish information to ensure the organisation meets its regulatory transparency obligations.
- Maintain the Information Asset Register (IAR).
- Run the IRC Forum, the Microsoft Team that has replaced the IAA Forum.
- Create IG toolkits, procedures and guidance.

You will have the following key skills, attributes, education and experience:
- Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
- Practical experience of successfully performing in a similar role.
- Knowledge of Data Protection, FOI, EIR, records management and information governance issues and related legislation

Whilst agile working is an option for most staff, there is an expectation that employees are able to attend the office in central Leeds as and when required.
