We are seeking an exceptional individual to join us and contribute to the economic and social improvement of the Leeds City Region. This is an exciting opportunity to develop a career in public policy forging better futures for millions of people.
That’s precisely what is on offer at West Yorkshire Combined Authority. The Combined Authority brings together five districts plus York, the business community via Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership and also takes in the former Passenger Transport Executive (branded Metro). Overall, the Combined Authority covers a population of around 2.5 million people and represents the largest economy outside London.
We are looking to appoint a full time policy coordinator to provide day to day management and steer to the recently created West Yorkshire Bus Alliance. The Alliance brings together the Combined Authority West Yorkshire Districts and Bus Operators to deliver a package of customer facing improvements to the bus network. The bus is the biggest public transport mover of people in West Yorkshire and has a critical role in our transport network. You will work with the Bus Policy Manager to:
- Engage and work with internal and external stakeholders, to ensure shared aims and objectives are achieved
- Provide Coordination to the Programme by managing the governance, financial requirements, risks and forward work plan
- Lead the engagement with the District Partners
- Work with Project Managers to achieve outputs and outcomes
- Work with external parties to obtain and review performance management of the Partnership
- Manage external consultancies where required
- Work with the communications and engagement work stream to ensure coordination with external and internal communications.
You will be educated to degree level and/or have direct and demonstrable experience in using evidence to develop and drive policy, with a clear ability to apply this to this role.

Secondment opportunities will be considered for this post, however, in line with the Combined Authority’s Secondments Policy, you must have 12 months’ service in your current role.
