The Combined Authority brings together district partners, the business community via Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership and also takes in the former Passenger Transport Executive (branded Metro). Overall, the Combined Authority covers a population of around 2.5 million people and represents the largest economy outside London.

The Role

The West Yorkshire Combined Authority is seeking to appoint a Project Assistant (Apprenticeships). This post will have the opportunity to provide project support within the Employment and Skills Team with a focus on supporting delivery of apprenticeship related programmes. The post-holder will be used to/be able to work in a flexible manner whilst undertaking a wide range of roles and activities in order to contribute to the successful development, management, implementation, processing and monitoring of the LEP’s apprenticeship related programmes.

 

The authority is seeking an individual who has previous experience of project work within a project management setting and is able to:

  • Demonstrate a commitment to corporate processes;
  • Take a pro-active and flexible approach to participating and delivering the Combined Authorities objectives;
  • Work in a team and on own initiative and is a confident and self-motivated individual;
  • Take a positive approach to self-development.

About you

We are looking for a highly motivated individual who is prepared to work flexibly on a range of programmes, on their own initiative as well as part of a team in a high-profile and demanding environment – often working to tight deadlines. 

 

The successful applicant will have knowledge and experience of publicly funded programmes and in particular apprenticeships.  The applicant will be highly competent in using Microsoft office systems to undertake analysis, assessment and matching of information from complex data sets, updating of online programme monitoring systems utilising our CRM system, preparation of financial information in relation to grant funded programmes.  Excellent communication skills, particularly email and telephone skills, are required in order to liaise directly with businesses and organisations applying for programme support.

This post is funded through limited/time bound external funding.

 

Secondment opportunities will be considered for this post, however, in line with the Combined Authority’s Secondments Policy, you must have 12 months’ service in your current role and seek approval from your current line manager.
