WYCA is now responsible for the delivery of the £1.8 billion devolution deal for West Yorkshire and is the home of the newly elected West Yorkshire Mayor, Tracy Brabin, the first woman to be elected as a Metro Mayor.

Additionally, we are about to embark on a major digital transformation project to replace our legacy Finance and HR applications into one new combined Enterprise Resource Planning system. This Integrated Corporate System (ICS) will equip staff with best in class tools to support the work of the Authority.

We are looking to appoint a number of key roles in our HR and Finance teams who will work closely within the wider implementation project team on this new system and will also work on some general operational work in the team to support and allow the release of current team members to input into the project

The Role

The Project Assistant role is a key function within the project management team to support the delivery of the Integrated Corporate Systems project.

Reporting into the ICS Project Manager, and to support the project team your key responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting the project manager in the day to day delivery of the project;
  • Managing the control of project documentation;
  • Supporting the team in the planning and delivery of the project;
  • Take responsibility for work-packages from inception through to completion;
  • Engage with a wide range of stakeholders to ensure their requirements are being met;
  • Have a collaborative working style and be a team player;
  • Help to deliver projects on time, to quality and budget in a fast moving project environment.

About you

  • You will be educated to a degree level or have equivalent practical experience of working in a similar role.
  • Have excellent computer skills including the Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project products;
  • Have excellent organisational and financial management skills to organise orders and invoices against spends and budget;
  • Have a good working knowledge of project methodologies e.g. PRINCE 2.
