The Combined Authority brings together five districts plus York, the business community via Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership and also takes in the former Passenger Transport Executive (branded Metro. Overall, the Combined Authority covers a population of around 2.5 million people and represents the largest economy outside London.

The role

We are looking to appoint a Systems & Supplier Co-ordinator to play a key role in our transformation of transport services within the region. The role holder will manage a range of suppliers to provide systems, processes and services that deliver a countywide multi-channel retail network for the MCard smartcard scheme, generates over £35m sales per annum – the largest smartcard scheme outside of London.

In the development of the retail network, which currently includes travel shops, ticket vending machines, mobile phone and online options the role holder will provide technical support and advice in respect of smart systems and ticketing. Working on a range of projects and initiatives to drive continuous improvement across the organisation, in key corporate areas such as business planning, risk management, business continuity and organisational change.

In addition the role holder will manage a range of technical suppliers to ensure the delivery of concessionary fare passes for senior citizens, people with disabilities and young people.

The successful candidate will be working in a small team supporting the delivery and development of the MCard retail network using the data at our disposal to make informed decisions on the development of products and retail channels to meet the needs of customers. They will be a visible and enthusiastic team member, with a collaborative working style and the ability to build excellent working partnerships at all levels. The role holder will play a key role in developing and delivering business change projects to support the Combined Authority in its future development.

The role holder will be primarily based in Leeds City Centre, although there may be requirements to work at partner organisations within the Leeds City Region.

The person

You will be an enthusiastic and innovative individual who is passionate about improving customer service. Educated to degree level or have equivalent practical experience of working in a similar role. You will have an excellent understanding of smart ticketing schemes and associated back-office systems.
