It is an exciting time to be joining the Mayoral Combined Authority. We have a wide variety of exciting projects that we are working on which will help shape the West Yorkshire region.
We are seeking a talented and dynamic communicator to help shape our web and digital media presence, delivering for the people of West Yorkshire.
This is a politically restricted post.
Aim of Job: With a key role in the newly formed digital media function, you will play a key role delivering proactive and reactive digital communications through multi-channel digital strategies that elevate the digital presence of the West Yorkshire Combined Authority and the Mayor of West Yorkshire.
You will be a creative who is ahead of the curve and can deliver innovative web content, digital media campaigns and provide strategic advice to senior leaders and elected officials. As well as helping deliver effective, engaging content around the Mayor’s priorities and activities - including supporting businesses, developing skills, improving transport and tackling the climate emergency.
You will bring a positive, inclusive and collaborate approach and a motivation to make West Yorkshire the best place in the UK to live, work, visit and do business.

The Role
This is a varied which will suit a flexible and collaborative person with a track record a building strong working relationships.
Reporting to the Digital and Social Media Manager, you will:
- Work in close collaboration with colleagues in the media, digital, marketing, policy, campaigns, and – as well as external agencies - to deliver innovative and creative paid media and web content, across the organisations digital presence.
- Lead and influence the development and delivery of web content strategies that combine organisational priorities and mayoral pledges.
- Advise on web content development, best practices, project design, development and funding pitches, using customer and market insight and specialist communications and marketing expertise to ensure that project briefs set out clear, realistic communications and marketing objectives, are in tune with market need and comply with corporate communications processes.
- Manage paid media campaign and project budgets up to £100,000 to ensure value for money is received and return on investment delivered as part of a larger marketing and communications budget.
- Advise senior managers, elected members and board members on strategic and tactical communications and digital best practices to achieve the organisation’s objectives.
- Manage content on our websites and intranet sites using a content management system.
- Producing and managing digital website content in line with content accessibility guidelines and advising colleagues on digital accessibility best practices, upkeeping a high standard of proof reading and content management.
- Generate intelligence on the performance of communications and marketing activity and evaluate activity to ensure outcomes are achieved, return on investment is delivered and positive impact created. Use evaluation insights to shape and develop future campaigns.
- Keep abreast of new developments, trends and technologies in communications and marketing and make recommendations to the Heads of Communications and Marketing team and project leads on how the organisation could use them to meet business objectives.

About you
You will have the following skills, knowledge and experience:
- Able to develop innovative and impactful web content using industry standard content management systems.
- Experience managing, delivering and evaluating effective digital multi-channel campaigns that speak to the diverse audiences within West Yorkshire.
- Experience delivering paid media across Meta, Twitter, LinkedIn and TikTok
- Experience developing accessible content for web and digital platforms.
- Experience monitoring and reporting website performance using a variety of industry standard tools such as Google Tags, Analytics, MOZ and SEM Rush.
