Travel Plan Network

The Travel Plan Network is a free membership scheme open to all employers in West Yorkshire who are committed to supporting and encouraging sustainable travel among their staff.

The Travel Plan Network (TPN) is currently suspended.

Due to staffing shortages, full travel planning services for TPN members are temporarily unavailable. However you can still take advantage of the 12% staff discount on the Corporate Annual MCard by completing the application form. The information you provide will help the Combined Authority support you with additional TPN travel planning services once the network resumes.

As the Combined Authority prepares for Bus Franchising in Spring 2027, the MCard remains West Yorkshire’s trusted smart ticket, providing seamless, unlimited travel across all bus and rail operators. It continues to offer a convenient and great value way for passengers to move easily around the network throughout the transition period.

What is the Travel Plan Network?

Joining is simple, just complete the application form. Once submitted, your organisation will automatically receive full membership. This will give you access to exclusive MCard corporate discounts, along with a wide range of sustainable travel tools, resources, and expert support to help you make greener commuting a reality.

Benefits to Travel Plan Network Members and their Employees

Corporate Annual MCards for Travel Plan Network employees

By joining the Travel Plan Network, businesses can strengthen their Corporate Social Responsibility credentials by reducing their environmental footprint through actively supporting sustainable travel initiatives. Participation helps promote a cleaner, healthier local environment for employees, stakeholders, and customers.

Members can promote the Corporate MCard Annual Pass scheme to their employees, offering them savings on bus and train travel within West Yorkshire. For your employees, the benefits include a 12% discount off the regular price of all annual tickets, valid on virtually all bus and rail services operating in West Yorkshire at any time of the day.

Employers are required to promote the scheme widely to their staff, to coordinate applications and provide an advance of salary, or interest-free loan and payroll deductions.

There are no taxable benefit implications as this is a salary deduction scheme rather than a salary sacrifice scheme, but the advantage is that employees don't have to find the total ticket value up front and can make savings compared to more regular ticket purchases.

Business Travel Pass for Travel Plan Network members

Travel Plan Network members are eligible for 75% discount on the Business Travel Pass. This Pass can be shared with anyone in the company for business and work-related travel (not for personal travel) on bus and rail throughout West Yorkshire. It must be accompanied by an employee ID card.

Business Travel Passes are held by the employer and should be kept in one secure place, where it should be centrally booked. Employees should book the pass and sign it out and back in again on return.

Car club and car share

Two ways of reducing traffic on the roads are to car or lift share and just hire a car when you need one.

Joining a car club gives you the use of a car just for the time you need it.

Member employees with an Annual MCard can benefit from joining the

Enterprise Car Club for personal use at just £1 a year (saving £59 annually).

Enterprise Car Club provides members with quick and easy access to a car or van for short term hire (from as little as half an hour). Members make use of car club vehicles as and when they need them. A range of vehicle types are available to suit the journey – vans, smaller city cars, 7 seaters and estates.

The process is simple:

  1. Reserve - for as little as half an hour at a time either online, by iPhone app or over the phone. Reservations can be made well ahead of time or with only a few minutes’ notice.
  2. Unlock - vehicles are located at designated parking bays in the local area and accessed using the member’s smart card, MCard or iPhone app.
  3. Drive – the driver enters a PIN and drives away, returning the vehicle at the end of the journey. It is possible to extend the booking if necessary.
  4. Pay - Pay-as-you-go charges include fuel, insurance and maintenance costs. A subscription charge is paid monthly or annually.

Lift share

Lift sharing allows you to cut the costs of travel by sharing your journeys with others. You can find a car sharing match for free on the Liftshare website.
