Fair Work Charter

Fair working practices are essential for a successful business and satisfied employees. That’s why, in Autumn 2023, the Mayor launched the Fair Work Charter.

The Fair Work Charter is a promise from local employers to review their working practices. It aims to foster a culture of fair work. Secure and fulfilled employees lead to higher productivity, which benefits the West Yorkshire economy.

Every employee, no matter what business they are working for, deserves to be treated fairly. That’s why the West Yorkshire Fair Work Charter was created.

Workplace wellbeing is crucial. The Charter helps ensure it remains a focus in our region, leading to satisfied employees and good jobs across West Yorkshire.

The Charter is good for employers too. It enhances productivity, boosts growth, improves talent retention, raises staff satisfaction and helps recruitment.

Opportunity. Fulfilment. Wellbeing. Security. An employee voice. These core principles are the pillars of the Fair Work Charter.

Why should my business join the Fair Work Charter?

Your business might already focus on fair work. We want to celebrate the progress that employers are making, while helping them to take the next step towards fairer work.

That’s why Fair Work Charter members get access to:

  • Peer networks - connect with a growing group of employers dedicated to fair work.
  • Learning and development portal - access exclusive resources for creating a modern workplace.
  • Recognition mark - receive digital branding material to promote your membership and stand out.
  • Pathway to sustainable growth - gain a roadmap for attracting talent, boosting productivity, and encouraging innovation.

The Charter fits perfectly with our plans to establish a strong ‘Empowered Employment Journey’ across our organisation. This roadmap visually represents how Witt UK support employees at every stage—from recruitment and onboarding through to development and even when they leave the business.
