Important Update:  Committee and panel meetings during the Covid-19 pandemic

The Local Authorities and Police and Crime Panels (Coronavirus) (Flexibility of Local Authority and Police and Crime Panel Meetings) (England and Wales) Regulations 2020, which came into force in April 2020 permitting the holding of meetings remotely, came to an end in May 2021.

Due to the recent rise in COVID-19 cases in the UK, and the current uncertainty this brings, the difficult decision has been taken not to hold any in person committee meetings in January 2022 and to keep this under review in respect of those meetings scheduled in February 2022.

As the legislation required to allow the holding of virtual formal committee meetings expired in May 2021, the Combined Authority will hold ‘informal virtual meetings’. Where there is a need for a formal decision on an item, the Managing Director will utilise their delegated authority to subsequently take these decisions having regard to the recommendations of the informal meeting.

To ensure our continued commitment to transparency and good governance, all ‘informal virtual meetings’ shall be livestreamed to the Combined Authority’s YouTube channel and a recording of the meeting will be uploaded when available. A written record of any decisions taken by the Managing Director will be published on the Combined Authority’s website.

Agendas and reports will continue to be published on our website five clear days in advance of the meeting.
