Responding the updated misconduct proceedings guidance released today by the College of Policing, West Yorkshire Mayor Tracy Brabin said:

“I welcome these more stringent guidelines in light of the appalling incidents we have all witnessed nationally.

“The safety of women and girls sits at the heart of my Police and Crime Plan and we’re making great progress tackling these issues. Earlier this month for instance, we secured over £500,000 to support the victims and survivors of domestic abuse across our county.

“West Yorkshire Police has robust misconduct processes in place, but they must build on this and continue to reinforce people’s faith in policing.”
