David Carrick has today been sentenced to 36 life sentences and he will serve a minimum 30 years and 239 days in prison for 49 charges - including 24 counts of rape.
Alison Lowe OBE, the Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime for West Yorkshire said: “My thoughts and sympathies go out to the victims and their families affected by the heinous crimes of this man.
“This sentencing reflects the seriousness of these crimes, committed over a prolonged period by a sexual predator, who hid in plain sight in a police uniform.
“It highlights the crucial importance of a robust vetting and misconduct system. Only by developing a culture that rejects the unacceptable and having tight processes around recruitment and vetting will we see confidence in our police return.”
