At Outwood rail station, we’re investing over £1.5 million from the West Yorkshire-plus Transport Fund to create approximately 167 additional parking spaces.

In 2018 Outwood station served almost 400,000 passengers and this number is expected to rise significantly. Demand for spaces has forced a number of commuters to park on nearby streets, causing congestion within the immediate area.

As well as additional parking spaces, the scheme will provide CCTV, enhanced drainage and LED lighting.

Outwood rail station is one of 14 projects within Phase 1 of our £30.5m Rail Park and Ride Programme, which has been designed to increase station parking and provide people with increased access to train services. In turn, this will help reduce congestion, improve local air quality and enhance people’s access to jobs, training and apprenticeship opportunities, as well as leisure activities.
