Piece Hall Chief Appointed Deputy Chair of Mayor's Culture Committee

In a major boost to West Yorkshire’s creative sector, the Chief Executive of The Piece Hall Trust, Nicky Chance-Thompson DL has been appointed as the new Deputy Chair of the region’s Culture Committee.

Ms Chance-Thompson has been at the helm of The Piece Hall since 2017, overseeing the development of an outstanding arts, culture and community events programme and transforming it into a world-class visitor attraction. She joined the Culture Committee as a private sector member last year.

Nicky Chance Thompson DL, Chief Executive of the Piece Hall Trust, said:

“In these challenging times, the role of culture has never been more important. As well as making a significant economic contribution, culture brings people together, challenges our thinking and makes us feel good.”

The Culture Committee comprises public and private sector members who meet quarterly to discuss and drive forward the Mayor’s pledge to lead a Creative New Deal for West Yorkshire.

The next meeting will take place on Thursday 26 January 2023.
