
Next steps on bus reform to be discussed by Combined Authority
Plans to reform bus services in West Yorkshire are set to take another important step forward at a special meeting next week.
Mayor of West Yorkshire, Tracy Brabin, responds to the decision to extend the consultation on ticket office closures.

Mayor of West Yorkshire, Tracy Brabin, said:
“We said from the start that the chaotic and rushed consultation to shut down most of our ticket offices was completely inadequate and unlawful.
“Despite this time extension, we still have significant concerns about the way the consultation has been set up and the impact these proposals would have on the most vulnerable.
“Station staff are essential if we want our railways to be accessible, safe and inclusive for everyone.”
Plans to reform bus services in West Yorkshire are set to take another important step forward at a special meeting next week.
Some bus services, a new travel centre and accessible toilet facilities are opening to passengers from Sunday 1 October 2023, while construction work continues on site.
The “Just Don’t” campaign is the latest step in the Mayor of West Yorkshire Tracy Brabin’s fight to improve the safety of women and girls, alongside partners across the region.
