Walking, wheeling and cycling

Safer. Greener. Healthier. Just three of the many reasons why walking, cycling and wheeling are great alternatives to cars and environment-polluting vehicles.

That’s we’re enhancing walking, wheeling and cycling infrastructure as part of the Weaver Network.

We know that ditching four wheels altogether isn't practical for most of us. But walking, wheeling and cycling are great options for short trips or as part of an exercise routine.

We’re working with local authorities in West Yorkshire to improve infrastructure for better, sustainable transport across the Weaver Network.

We’ve introduced lots of new routes designed to help us all get around West Yorkshire more easily by foot, bike, wheeling or scooting. This includes upgrades to cycle paths and canal towpaths.

We are making access to towns and city centres, schools and shops, an easier, safer, healthier and more pleasant experience as we enhance and grow the Weaver Network.

We’re working closely with community groups and local organisations to make active travel accessible, safe and affordable for everyone. Through funding, we help deliver free services like cycle training and guided walks, as well as unique projects shaped by the needs of each area.

West Yorkshire businesses are key partners too. Our Walking and Cycling Support for Business grants help employers offer staff healthy, sustainable, and practical travel options for everyday journeys.
