Walking and cycling

Safer. Greener. Healthier. Just three of the many reasons why walking, cycling and wheeling are great alternatives to cars and environment-polluting vehicles.

That’s why here at West Yorkshire Combined Authority, we’re enhancing walking and cycling infrastructure in our region. Read on to learn more.

We know that ditching four wheels altogether isn't practical for most of us. But walking, cycling and wheeling are great options for short trips or as part of an exercise routine.

We’re working with local authorities in West Yorkshire to improve infrastructure for better, sustainable transport.

Our Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plans are making progress. This includes upgrades to cycle paths and canal towpaths. We're focused on enhancing the network.

We’re also collaborating with community groups and local organisations. This helps people travel safely and affordably. By providing support and tailored resources, we ensure investment goes where it’s needed most.

West Yorkshire businesses are key to our plans. We provide Walking and Cycling Support for Business grants. This helps businesses offer employees healthy, sustainable and practical travel options for daily use.
