Environment and regeneration in West Yorkshire

We know that affordable housing is really important. Everyone in West Yorkshire should be able to live in a comfortable, warm and affordable home. That's why we're working hard to increase the supply of affordable, sustainable housing and employment sites.

By 2040, as part of the West Yorkshire Housing Strategy, we will have a truly affordable and high-quality housing offer, meeting the needs of people and communities throughout West Yorkshire.

West Yorkshire Combined Authority leads on housing and regeneration, flood risk management, climate action and nature recovery. Our work shapes the physical environment of our five districts and helps create places where people and communities can thrive.

We work with district councils, developers and community organisations to shape how our region grows and changes. From increasing the supply of affordable homes and regenerating brownfield land to managing the risk of flooding and leading on nature recovery, our work spans the full range of environmental and place-making priorities across Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees, Leeds and Wakefield.

We are also working to reduce fuel poverty and improve energy efficiency in homes across the region, and to build the sustainable infrastructure our communities need - from better flood defences and improved public spaces to cleaner, more modern systems that support the towns and cities of the future.
