The Mayor of West Yorkshire, Tracy Brabin, represents 2.4 million residents. The role includes championing the region nationally and internationally and working with leaders of our local councils to grow the region’s economy.

Our mission and vision

West Yorkshire is where opportunity lives.

By setting out an ambitious vision and five missions for 2040, these targets will drive our work to transform lives and communities across the region.

To achieve these goals, we must work closely with our partners. Only through the whole region working together towards a common outcome, will our vision be realised.

The Mayor

Tracy Brabin was re-elected as Mayor of West Yorkshire in May 2024. She is building on her first term success to improve transport, housing, regeneration, policing and skills across the region, using devolved powers to deliver local priorities.
