I’m currently studying for the level 5 apprenticeship in Leadership and Management, accredited by ILM (the Institute for Leaders and Managers). I’m due to complete the course in April 24.
I wanted to build on my management skills to help me progress in role and within the Combined Authority. I felt that the apprenticeship was a great opportunity to do this whilst working.
I’d encourage them to go for it! Whilst there is a lot of material to work through on the course, if you can get into good habits for setting time aside this makes it much easier!
Meeting a great group of people on the course (both within the Combined Authority and externally) and having the opportunity to be taught by some great tutors.
I think this is definitely more challenging if you have a part time role – but if you can get into good habits of setting time aside then it starts to become part of your routine. There is a great quote – ‘first we form habits, then they form us. If you make the decision to go for it, you can find ways to make it work.
