What is the Elland rail station project?
The new Elland rail station is being developed and delivered by the West Yorkshire Combined Authority. This is part of the bus and rail improvements and wider access package, which aims to strengthen Calderdale’s transport network, connect communities and support local business growth.
The station will be built next to Lowfields Way, near the A629 Calderdale Way, on the existing Calder Valley rail line. Once completed, it will offer direct connections to key destinations including Leeds, Bradford, Huddersfield and Manchester.
To help people access the station more easily, a wider access package is being developed and delivered by Calderdale Council. This includes:
-
New walking and cycling routes
-
Two new pedestrian and cycle bridges crossing the River Calder and Calder Hebble Navigation, making the station more accessible from across the town and surrounding areas
