Huddersfield bus station

Our latest £27 million plans to transform Huddersfield bus station.

Development

What is the Huddersfield bus station project?

We are developing a £27 million transformation of Huddersfield bus station in partnership with Kirklees Council.

The full renovation will provide passengers with a more accessible, energy efficient and modern bus station.

Key improvements include:

  • A new entrance canopy
  • Improvements to the public space around the bus station
  • Upgraded shop fronts
  • Improved safety and security measures
  • Real-time bus and rail information screens to help with onward travel
  • A “Changing Places” accessible toilet with extra space and equipment to meet the needs of people with a range of disabilities and their carers, including a hoist and height adjustable changing bench
  • A “living roof” covered with pollinator-friendly plants
  • Energy-saving features, such as solar
  • Cycle parking

How is this project funded?

This scheme is being delivered in partnership by the Combined Authority and Kirklees Council with funding from the UK Government.
