Role details

Are you passionate about communities, the environment, and creating opportunities that make a real difference?

We’re looking for a Volunteer Co‑ordinator to help shape and grow volunteering across our Parks and Greenspaces. An exciting role where your ideas, energy and leadership will directly support healthier, greener and more connected communities.

As part of our Parks and Greenspaces team, you’ll lead the development, co‑ordination and delivery of volunteering programmes, working closely with colleagues, community groups, local businesses and partners.

You’ll help design engaging opportunities, provide a range of volunteer support, manage budgets, and bring forward new creative ways for people to get involved in supporting their local environment. Every day will bring a new challenge and the chance to make a meaningful impact.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Understands the value of volunteering and can turn insight and ideas into successful programmes.
  • Enjoys building relationships across a wide range of people and organisations.
  • Has experience managing volunteering activity, delivering projects to agreed outcomes, and producing clear reports and plans.
  • Can demonstrate practical environmental awareness and lead by example when needed.
  • Brings strong organisational, IT and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to monitor performance and make things happen.

At Kirklees, we are proud of our values: Kindness, Inclusion and Pride, and we’re looking for someone who will demonstrate these every day.

We’re also committed to being a supportive and flexible employer. Where the role allows, we are happy to discuss flexible working arrangements, and we actively encourage applications from people of all backgrounds and experiences.

You’ll need to be able to travel across Kirklees, work flexibly (including occasional evenings/weekends), and undertake a basic DBS check.

If you’re motivated by community impact, enjoy working with people, and want to help shape a thriving volunteering offer across Kirklees, we’d love to hear from you.

Apply today and play a key role in supporting local people, places and the environment.
